Who we are

Partners in Hope (PIH) is a non-profit organization that was established in 2004 by Dr. Perry Jansen, an American Family Physician, his alma mater, the University of California Los Angeles and a group of committed Malawian professionals to contribute to the HIV and AIDS epidemic national response in Malawi.


Partners in Hope is an affiliate of Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). PIH’s strategy arose from close engagement with the Ministry of Health early in the process of developing and implementing successful scale up of antiretroviral therapy (ART) Program. PIH has two sections which are Medical Centre and the Programs.


The Medical Centre based in Lilongwe, the Capital City of Malawi, that provides equitable and high-quality medical services including ambulatory and inpatient services, supported by well established diagnostic services that include Molecular Laboratory and Radiology.


The Programs include Public Health integrated HIV and TB Prevention, Care and Treatment, Monitoring & Evaluation, Implementation Science and Research. Our programs focus on:


  • Health Service Delivery
  • Medical Education and Research
  • Broad strengthening Malawi's health system through Capacity Building in 123 Ministry fo Health, Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) and private health facilities in nine districts across Malawi
